Scrapbook Stamp Society / Momenta D-lite girls Hop

Welcome to our hop. Some of the Momenta D-lite girls have decided to try our hand with digi-stamps from the Scrapbook Stamp Society. We mixed some of our favorite Momenta products with a few of our favorite digi stamps. You can view all of our projects at the ScrapbookStampSociety facebook page. My card uses the digi stamp called Little Piggy by Morgan Fitzsimons. I used all Momenta product on this card - the patterned papers, gems in the flower centers and the red letter stickers.
I paper pieced the digi stamp - I love this technique - it's so much fun!! The design was printed on the green background paper, then I printed each individual piece on other papers, cut them out and mounted them to the green paper. The pig's snout and the flowers were pop dotted for dimension.
The inside of the card reads "Sending Hogs & Kisses Your Way".

Momenta Valentine Frame

My first project for the Momenta D-Lite team!!
I found a wooden frame with a heart center at Michael's for $1.00.
I used a gorgeous piece of red and pink paper (from Momenta's Super Paper Pad) to cover the frame. First I cut the heart shape out of the paper with my craft knife, glued the paper onto the frame and then added Momenta's clear layered flower stickers.
I used the word "sweetie" from the Valentine puffy title sticker set.
The final touch? A photo of my darling great-nephew, Milo!!

Gallery show

Gecko Galz and Paper Issues

The theme at Paper Issues right now is Numbers. I made this birthday calendar using Gecko Galz papers, GG images and Thickers for the months and numbers. I also used the 7 Gypsies photo holder for this project. As our family grows, I need a monthly reminder so I don't forget birthdays!

Christmas mini book

I made this mini book for my DT gallery on Gecko Galz. I love using these vintage Christmas images - you can purchase them already printed (cardstock copy) or as a digi file (which is what I do). This photo shows the cover of my book. I've used images from two collections: St. Nicholas & Vintage Christmas. The background paper is from the Christmas Past collection.

Discovered in Geneva, OH

The sidewalks in Geneva have grapes and leaves carved into the cement. Geneva is on Lake Erie and there are lots of vineyards and wineries there. This particular carving was near the "smallest covered bridge in Ohio". And it was small - just about a car length!

Gecko Galz Tricks and Treats Blog Hop

Last week was the Gecko Galz blog hop. It was a lot of fun and these are the samples that I made for the hop.

I really enjoyed using the beautiful ladies from my collage sheet! I cut out the lady on this card and added bits and bobs that I had, such as the blue velvet trim, leaf and paper crown with added rhinestones.

I love using images from Gecko Galz to make ATC's! For this ATC, I cut out the lady, used Words and Music ATC paper (Gecko Galz) for the background, added pink German scrap wings, metal stars and German scrap border.

I like how the image of the lady with the umbrella goes with the theme of my scrapbook page about my daughter's rain boots. The black background paper is from September's Gothica papers (by Gecko Galz).

I added some snowflake paper, red ribbon and trim to this pretty lady to make a Christmas card. The words "Joyeux Noel" are printed on the image.

I bought this box with a herringbone pattern already painted on it. I decorated it by adding a doily, some Prima pearls, a feather, clock charm, button and a lovely Gecko Galz lady image to the lid and now have a pretty place to keep special treasures.

Steampunk

I tried my hand at a piece of Steampunk art and found that I really had fun making this!! I just love the images from Gecko Galz!
I used the October digi images (the large hand and the man - isn't he great?!!!). The background paper is from October's Words and Music pages. The hot air balloon, bird and the man driving the car are from Gecko Galz steampunk collage sheets.
I also added some brads, Tim Holtz gears and rub ons from Fancy Pants and 7 Gypsies.

Flashback to...

.... the very first scrapbooking crop I ever went to. Now mind you, this was many years ago. I had no idea what to take with me, not much knowledge about scrapbooking in general and as a result, found myself sitting at a table with nothing to do.
There was a die cutting machine available to use - the old Big Red Sizzix - and so I found myself happily cutting. I decided to make tags and that's what I did most of the weekend.
I put the tags into this small book, cleverly titled Tags, lol. The tags are very simple and over the years I've thought about throwing this book away. However, I'm glad I kept it and I think I will add some new tags to it. I know that my style has changed a lot since that first crop!

Milo's first train ride - a small red train at the zoo and he loved it!!!
I used vintage train tags from Amy Mattes Designs on this layout. I printed them out on patterned paper, cut out the blue edged one and popped it up.
I punched a section of a tag and used it near the title.
Visit a boys life and get these tags for yourself. You'll love them!!
(They also come with red and yellow edges).

Well, I will take snow over this heat and high humidity any day!!!
Actually, I found this photo while sorting pictures and I just received some new dies, so... My new dies are from Cheery Lynn Designs and are just gorgeous!
I got 6 doily dies, cut out three from the English Tea Party and one from the Canadian Kaleidoscope, and then decided to use them on this layout to give the illusion of snowflakes.
I am so glad to have found these dies!!! I love to use doilies on my layouts, but there is no variety in the stores - all white, all the same pattern. I'm so excited that now I can cut different shapes in different colors!!!!
BTW, these dies cut so beautifully, that I placed another order today for more designs!!!!!

Today is my first post on the Amy Mattes Designs blog.
This layout of my great-niece, Aria Rose, uses the scalloped banner printables from Amy's etsy shop, Chocolate Sundae.
I used a scallop punch to add a white border, taped the circles in half, laid them out in my banner pattern and then pop dotted them up. I added rhinestones between and baker's twine at the ends.
I also used BoBunny cardstock and JilliBean paper.

I just love this holiday!! I love fireworks, picnics and the colors - red, white and blue - one of my favorite combos!!
I used Gecko Galz products to create this card and am planning on doing some scrapbook pages later this week. I think Gecko Galz background papers are just perfect for this holiday and their images are darling!!

It's Crusade No. 52 at GPP. Artist Michelle Ward has issued a challenge this month that asks - do you change the colors you use in your artwork when the seasons change?? Does your art reflect the change in season??

I love colors - all colors! - but my go-to color palette is orange and blue with a touch of white and/or dark brown. I use this during any season, just because I love it so much!!
I created a little collage piece with my favorite colors. I used paint, stamping, rub-ons, tape and ephemera from my stash.

Basic Grey Challenge

I used Kioshi to create my BG Easter card. Love the soft colors of this line!! The chick and doily ribbon are also Kioshi. The pink letters are Thickers and I created the "straw" for a nest from a blue scrap I had.

Artiscape 2011 ATC

And the title pretty much says it all - lol!!! This is the ATC I created for Artiscape this year. Cutting the image out was the hardest part - luckily I only had to make 4 of them; this ATC was just for the other women I went with. We had our own little trading session in Columbus.

"My Core'dinations Creative Frenzy"

Core'dinations cardstock + sanding = Fun!! I have been busy embossing and sanding Core'dinations cardstock all week.
My first layout has an embossed banner and leaves. I just love this photo of my great-nephew Milo. The colors of the cardstock match wonderfully with his gnome outfit!!
I really like the effect I got with the red flower on the card I made. No embossing on this one. I just sanded the edges and I love the worn, soft look it got. It looks like red velvet to me.
My last layout has a sanded background with embossed squares that the photo is mounted on. This layout features one of my favorite pictures of my daughter at the zoo.
I love using Core'dinations cardstock!!!

Basic Grey Challenge

Found a new blog - you use Basic Grey in a project or a sketch, two times a month. I have soooo much BG that I decided maybe this would be a good place for me to play along. This time, something recycled had to be included in the project/layout. So I used a piece of cardboard, painted it, stamped on it, added BG scraps from Ambrosia, Boxer and Marrakech. Plus some blue tape and the large sticker letters from Marrakech. It was a fun project!!

My Room!

I have been cleaning and organizing my craft room, so that it would be ready for my final design team post for Clip it Up.
This is a tour of my room, which is 28' by 12'. In the room, I use carts and Clip it Up products to keep my stash organized and accessible.

When I walk into the room, this is what I see on the right side...

And this is the left side....

The areas around the room are filled with Clip it Up products - eight of them, in fact!!

First, I have my Thickers on the Jumbo Clip it Up. It is on a cart in front of my bookcase. The bottom of the cart holds boxes filled with ATC, inchies and fat book supplies.

Next are my card making supplies, color coded in the baskets. Finished cards are in the blue basket on top.

My stamp cabinet is next. I have lots of rubber and acrylic stamps and they are organized by subject matter in the drawers.

My paints, glitters and mists are in the white cupboard on the wall. Below are two carts with inks. Paintbrushes are on top in the crock and my large alpha stamps are in the wire container. Hanging in this area is a Swinging Wall Arm which I use for new and seasonal products. Right now there are red and pink items on it for Valentine's Day.

My 18" Ribbon Organizer hangs over two carts filled with miscellaneous paper. Then there are three white carts with Hobby Lobby and Tim Holtz supplies.
I have a Clip it Up Main Base and Upper Tier on one of the carts.

My sewing area is next, then my computer.

More carts - one for tools, two for seasonal, with the Wall Mount above them. Then two carts for more paper!! On top of those carts, I have my Clip it Up Mini which holds flowers.

My work table is in the center of my room. It's a table from Ikea. I love it so much that I bought another one for my die cutting room!

At either end of the table are more Clip it Ups - a Main Base with Upper Tier and my Floor Model. The Main Base sits on a cart full of scraps. My Floor Model holds all my Basic Grey.

Clip it Up Wall Mount

My 5th post for Simply Renee Clip it Up is on their blog (see link to left). This month I featured the Wall Mount. I've used mine above carts that hold my seasonal and cooking papers. The wall mount rod hangs above the two carts and I was able to put all of my seasonal and cooking embellishments on it.
It holds a ton of embellishments and I still have room for more!!
Using the wall mount for embellishments is just one way to use it! I came up with an alphabet of uses and here they are, from A-Z:

December Daily

I am hoping to make a December Daily album this year, for the days Dec. 1 - 25. I plan on journaling the snowfall in Dec., my decorating, any baking we do, places we go... I have my album almost ready to go (just have to punch holes)! This will be fun!!
Right now, I am working on organizing -
My first goal is to be really organized - not just surface clean, but actually being able to find something when I need it. My craft rooms are undergoing a major overhaul. The most helpful items - my Clip it Ups!! I really love being able to see what I have.
My second goal, which goes along with the first one, is to use my stash! I may be able to papercraft until the year 2020 just using what I have! Not kidding!! I will still buy new things, just not every new thing!

Cookbookin' layout

Here is my November Cookbookin' layout. November 21 was Milo's first birthday. His mother gives him no sweets or processed food - she makes all his food, bless her heart! He was allowed a few tastes of birthday cake, but didn't really love it. However, his guests did - it was delicious!!

I found a new forum and it's great! Very friendly and lots going on. Friday night there was a sketch challenge which had to be completed in two hours. I did this page featuring Milo in his Halloween costume as a gnome. He hated the beard and kept ripping it off. But when his mom put him in the leaves, he forgot about the beard and she got some really cute pictures.

This is my last layout for the Sharing Memories Scrapbooking design team. I've really enjoyed being on the team and will miss it!
The challenge this time was to scrapbook a favorite photo from summer 2010. This is a photo of my daughter at the beach in Chincoteague, Virginia.

Clip it Up!

My second post for Clip It Up -

This post will focus on the Swinging Wall Arm. This is a great organizing tool with many uses!
I put mine up in my craft room to hold new scrapbook items that I buy. I like to look at my purchases and not just put them in a drawer. New purchases are very inspiring and should be displayed! Clip your new goodies up to get your creative juices flowing!!

There are so many items that fit nicely on the Swinging Wall Arm, such as rub-ons:

There are many more ways to use the Swinging Wall Arm - how about in your kitchen to hold coupons, recipes and a shopping list each week?

Or in the bathroom for hair accessories? You could make a bag of ponytails, one for hair clips, one for hair ribbons, one for bobby pins, etc.

In the office area, you could make bags for postage stamps, envelopes, thank you cards, and even clip up the weekly bills to be paid.

I love the Clip It Up Swinging Wall Arm and you will too!!!

Sharing Memories Scrapbooking is having a summer scrap-a-thon and my assignment this month was to do a page about me.
This page is a new size for me - 8 x 8. I used packaging from GCD Studios for the base of my page, rounded the corners and then used more GCD paper for my layers. I typed statements about me in different fonts, cut them into strips, inked them and just randomly put them on the page. My name is in pink Thickers. The yellow butterfly is from Sharing Memories Scrapbooking.

I was driving past our local farmer's market and did a double take! Yes, I was seeing an alpaca! Called my sister who grabbed her camera and back we went. We got some pictures of Bink, who was pretty cute - for an alpaca, that is!!

Delight!! This photo was taken on the 4th of July. My sister and her husband bought a small pool for Milo. He loved it, as you can tell by his expression!
This is a page I did today in my Evidence of Summer journal. This is for Michelle Ward's July challenge - using strips. I tore scrapbook paper and book pages. Inked up the journal page, layered down the strips, added the ABC stamp and the bee trim.

A grid I made for a color exchange I'm in. There are nine women in the exchange, which is based on the book True Colors.
3 of us are from Ohio, 1 from Pennsylvania and 5 are from Michigan. We all chose a color and mine is blue. We have five weeks to do a double page spread in each book and in one year, we will get our own book back @ Artiscape in Columbus, OH.
Our group is called The Sisterhood of the Traveling Colors.

I love making ATC's. They are a fun, quick way to make art. I made these two ATC's using BoBunny dotted cardstock for the backgrounds. The faces are stamped.

I went for a walk on the first day of summer (June 21) and took pictures of flowers along the street. Then I used some scraps from my table and cut them all in squares. I added some stamping to a few squares, some yellow Evidence ribbon and inked the edges of all the squares.

I am very excited because I'm starting a new project just for myself! I'm calling it Evidence of Summer....2010.
It is going to be a combination scrapbook/journal of this summer. Michelle Ward, one of my favorite artists, always talks about evidence and collecting evidence of your life and art.
My first page is going to be a grid. Michelle does a monthly challenge called GPP Street Team Crusade and this month the challenge is to make a grid.

Altered spools

This is an idea I saw in Somerset Memories and just loved it! I have made several of these and they are fun to do.
First, I got some old spools. I cut off the thread and inked the edges and tops with chalk ink. I measured the spools and used scraps of scrapbook paper, paper bags or old paper to cut strips to fit around them. I added text and pictures with rubber stamps, magazine pictures, collage bits and rub-ons. I inked the edges of my decorated strips and attached them with a dab of glue at one end. I let the strips dry and then wound them around the spools. I tied them shut with yarn, fibers or ribbon. I glued buttons, bits of old jewelry or metal charms to the tops of the spools.

Here are some photos of my scrap room. The room is 12' by 28'. There are windows front and back and I have two standing floor lamps and a light over my table. I use lots of carts to organize my items; I have 18 black carts and 4 white ones with metal drawers in this room. I scrap by color and so that is how I have organized most of my things. I do have paper stored by company if I have a lot, and some by themes.

Carts which store colors (ribbon, rhinestones, buttons, etc.). Dress form which holds jewelry I've made and some I've gotten in trades.

My computer and wall calendar from Pottery Barn. I love that calendar; it's a whiteboard and my entire scrapping life is on there!! I change it monthly and write in all my design team work so I can see it at a glance.

The white carts hold my Thickers, cooking papers and embellies and Hobby Lobby products.

I got 4 pieces of this white furniture with the colorful baskets this year. I love the bright colors!! This piece stores blank cards, with misc. letter stickers and rub-ons in the boxes on top.

My paint, ink and stamping area. I like to keep my things in "zones" or areas so I can find things quickly. The inks are sorted by color, each to their own drawer. The stamps are sorted alphabetically, by theme.

The sewing area. The white furniture holds material. The wall hanging is a tribute to my mother, who loved to sew.

View of 1/2 the room. I love my work table (from Ikea). In fact, I have another one in my die cutting room!!

Tim Holtz!!

What a week-end!! I took three classes from Tim Holtz - he is the most inspiring teacher ever! We learned so much and had fun too! One class was making jewelry, one was using alcohol inks and one was using Distress Inks.
Tim and his helpers, Mario and Darby, are so organized. All class supplies are kitted, numbered and ready to go. We had two hours per class, with an hour break in between.
Here's a picture of my sister, Tim and me.
The projects we did are embellished heavily, so I will get a photo of them up tomorrow or later tonight.

My projects use paper from the Green Field Paper Company. It is 100% recycled paper that contains junk mail. The paper is lovely, as you can see bits of words, pictures and colors from the junk mail. When you hold it up to the light, you see a lot more junk mail embedded in the paper.

My first project is an Art Journal inspired by the Green Field Paper Company's use of junk mail. I gathered up envelopes and other bits of paper and packaging, used the recycled paper for covers and put it together with binder rings. The flowers and bird on the cover are punched from junk mail.

My second project is a layout, using the recycled paper as my background. I love the texture and weight of this paper!

Some "discoveries"

Went to an antique sale on Friday. I got some really great things - the blue stuffed bear is made from an antique coverlet, the wooden bear is made by a local artist, the silver shoe is a pincushion, the hankies are made into lavender sachets and smell just wonderful and the watermelon is a pincushion made from old velvet. Lots of treasures!!
